One of the most cherished parts of my time in Beirut has been to be the faculty advisor to the newly formed The Red Oak Club نادي السنديانة الØمراء. The first event was the screening of the film 1974 on the AUB strike of that year, a remarkable film with lessons for the students who are now in the midst of their own struggle. The next event -- on Monday -- will be to commemorate Land Day, the 1976 expulsion of Palestinian lands in the Galilee. It is to honour the strikes and struggles of the Palestinians to defend their lands (led by the poet parliamentarian Tawfiq Ziad who wrote the lyrics of Unadikum, a standard song for Marcel Khalife, https://youtube/watch?v=UOWxk62bxmI). Please join in near West Hall. The event following will be a multiple day event on Mahdi Amel, which will include Mansour A and myself chatting on Marxism today; announcement to come.
