One of the most common problem prevailing in Muslim Society! AT TIMES THIS LEADS TO MARITAL DISCORD. (1) A woman makes tremendous sacrifices by leaving her parents and brothers and sisters and moving into a completely new family after Nikah. She should be given respect for making those sacrifices. But what do we see in some Muslim homes? Some husbands think that by marriage they have gained (to put it bluntly) a slave! Astaghfirullah! (2) In a family there will be brothers and sisters and the poor daughter in law has to do everything not only for the husband but for every one else in the family as well. This is nothing but outright oppression! They don’t tell their own daughters to do as much as they tell their daughter in law to work in the house. (3) One person said to me once that I don’t care who I get married to, as long as she takes care of my parents, I am happy. How un-Islamic that statement is! (4) In light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah, the wife has absolutely no duty or responsibility laid upon her by Islam towards her husband’s family or ‘in-laws’, including the husband’s parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, etc. The responsibility and duty that Islam has laid upon the believing wife is only towards making sure that her husband is pleased and satisfied with her in every aspect of her life!
