One of the most difficult thing as a Christian and particularly in Christian leadership is understanding when long suffering is no longer a virtue. How long do i have to endure with bad or abusive behaviour before i cut the cord. Then you ask, is cutting the cord the best thing in this situation? Whatever you do, three things must be uppermost in your mind. 1. You must make your decision based on what you feel is best for the other person and not for your personal convenience. 2. You mustnt by your tolerance enable (encourage) bad behaviour, it leads to a reinforcement in the person and others might take it as a cue, thinking its an acceptable way to behave. 3. You must protect the person even if you have to cut the cord by not saying anything negative publicly but praying for him/her privately.
