One of the most heartening and eventful things that have happened - TopicsExpress

One of the most heartening and eventful things that have happened in a last couple of years is that people of all age groups have started discussing about national politics. Theyve come out of their apathy. Amongst all this, someone asked me to look at what has AAP done till now. What theyve done is highly interesting. 1. Anti corruption helpline in Delhi. Kudos! 2. Proposed waive off of pending bills of defaulters and electricity thieves. And then a U-turn after opposition from all corners. 3. Power subsidy for 3 months and order of audit of power companies. As per news, the power cuts have increased but if it is for a greater good and benefits all the sections of the society, welcome! 4. Kejriwal transferring 800 DJB officials based on a sting operation. In(stant)justice. So, Mr. Kejriwal, you know what a transfer is after enjoying all your life in Delhi. How come only civil servants like Khemkas are transferred? And not you? Or your wife? 5. Janta Durbars - Staged a drama, failed and never did it again. Probably a look at how Chandy did it and got a UN award might help. And do not do it for media. 6. Travelling by metro[that too on a ladies seat ;-)]. Required extra cops. Disrupted metro transport. [By the way, even Laalu also went for his oath ceremony in a rickshaw.] Used his car to go to the metro station, travelled in the metro and his car was already present to pick him up for his ride back from Delhi to Kaushambi. That blue Wagon-R. Means, his car was going to the oath ceremony anyways. 7. Preached of not using flat/car/security before the elections. A CM and his ministers have a right to use a government vehicle, house and security. That is required for an efficient service to the governed. Therefore, please do not preach what you cannot practice. And sorry, Mr. Sisodia, how is your government bungalow, btw? Im trying hard not to use a strong word like hypocrisy. 8. Proposed 90% reservation in Delhi University. 9. Supreme court had cleared close to 45000 extra auto licenses in Delhi. AAP released only 15000 licenses and only for SC/ST community. Why? Stinks of divisive decision making. 10. AAPs intent to seek quota for lower castes and women. Looks like were really running short of reservations already. Sometimes, I wonder if people who are getting reservation even demand reservation. 11. Free water upto 670 litres to households having metered connections. That too raising the subsidy from 90 percent to 100 percent for this bracket. And making it 0 percent for any water usage after that. If we look at this subsidy in terms of income tax: If you earn 10 lakhs, you pay no tax. If you earn 10 lakhs and 1 rupees, you pay tax on the whole income. Brilliant! No action for new connections for the poor as promised before the polls. No action against the tanker mafia. 12. Open support to Naxals and a proposed referendum of giving Kashmir to Pakistan. I would not refrain myself and use the word Shame here. 13. AAP goons entering labor rooms. AK claiming that he is an anarchist and would not let Republic day happen. Anarchy of the highest order. 14. And how Somnath Bharti, the law minister is taking the law for a ride. For a moment, even if I try to assume that what Bharti did was right, shouldnt the CM control his urge of staging dharna on every possible occasion? As preached by him, dharnas dont work so one should enter electoral politics. If I were to give a benefit of doubt to AAP and try to agree to what AAP fanatics are saying that they are new to the system and governance, then how justified is it for AAP to contest nationally? Everyone knows AAP can only cut a few votes and bag some seats, may be, in two digits. After that? How will it form the government? With Congresss support or by supporting Congress? And what are the policies it is in favor off? Communism? Signing the files, waiving off bills, giving subsidies and staging dharnas is easy. Show us the policies, good sirs. Sir Kejriwal, people have put their hope with you. Please do not play with it. Govern Delhi. Run it efficiently. Run it like no one has ever done it before. Raise the bar. To a new level altogether. Im sure, this country will see you as a national alternative. Prove it and youll deserve it. And then, go for it. You have a golden opportunity to keep all other political parties on their feet. Be their watchdog. Please ask media to go home and let you work. In this happens, well have no choice, but to shut up.
