One of the most talked about Christmas season ads of the year - TopicsExpress

One of the most talked about Christmas season ads of the year comes from UK supermarket giant, Sainsburys. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion and ispired by real events from 100 years ago. it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, five months into WWI. One million lives had already been lost. Magically, on that day, the guns fell silent and two armies -- the British and the Germans -- met in no-man’s land, sharing gifts – and even playing football together. The chocolate bar featured in the ad is on sale now at Sainsbury’s. All profits (50p per bar) will go to The Royal British Legion and will benefit British armed forces and their families, past and present. Compare this to an ad people screaming about 60 televisions, mega deals, Black Friday pricing...What does this approach say about the Sainburys brand? How does the storytelling touch our emotional core? How might other brands -- yours, for example -- connect with something more human and more meaningful than holiday discounts? What message might you want to send? 13.8m views on YouTube and counting... #foodforthought
