One of the paradoxes (or is it one?) of Bob Dylan is that he developed a more interesting persona than that of any of his peers by not consciously trying to do so. As he writes, I think accurately, in CHRONICLES, VOLUME ONE: Most of the other performers tried to put themselves across, rather than the song, but I didnt care about doing that. With me, it was about putting the song across. Or maybe its just that he managed to become the song as he was playing it.
