One of the particularly insidious parts of Abbott’s IR policy is to make individual contracts compulsory in all collective agreements, with no restrictions. At the moment, workers have the right to restrict them so they cannot undermine conditions they have fought for in previous bargaining. It means that you can win a great collective agreement and have your employer undermine it the very next day –- or whenever they want -- by demanding WorkChoices-style individual contracts. This is designed to undermine collective bargaining and give more power to employers. Your rights will be at risk if this were to become law. On September 7, say no to the LNP & their ideas of allowing employers to cut take home pay through individual workplace contracts.
