One of the physicians involved in our daughters care, wrote a wonderful email offering a roadmap to improved care, but when asked if we could use his comments in an upcoming exploration of her care, he refused. This is my response, and all of you know Im collaborator through and through... Hi Kevin, In the past 7 years, I have done my utmost to place the feelings of the physicians involved on the same level as my own, remembering that they too need to heal from the experience of making an error. In ever article written, every TV and radio interview aired, every video, I have always spoken kindly of Jess’ physicians. And although I am ever the optimist, I have recently come to realize that I will never be offered this kindness from any of you. In future, I will continue to treat all of you with respect, but I will no longer be concerned with building bridges with you. You have shown that you are incapable of collaboration, or for that matter, using empathy. We have sacrificed the most (next to Jess), and our loss is incomparable to yours; don’t even go there! We are owed everything you can do to give meaning to Jess’ death through maximized learning, and preventing from this from happening again. It’s such a little thing to ask, and we are owed this! tanyaebarnett.wordpress/2013/11/17/jess-stuff/ Grow a set of balls, for the next family you devastate, and maybe then you’ll be in a better position to offer them more than what you offered us; the back of your coat. Legally, our email correspondence is not private, and expect to have it used in some form in our case exploration, with or without credit to you. Thanks again for teaching me a hard-earned life lesson, Tanya
