One of the questions Im often met with during this time of year is Why do you hate Lebron James (so much)? In which I usually give my token answer of Im stubborn and set in my ways...Ive always hated him...Ill hate him until the day I die and probably a day or two after that. But the truth is I dont hate him, or anyone else not named Terry Thimlar (my high school basketball coach) and Genera Mason (who beat the sh!t out of me in the 7th grade...Im joking, I have nothing but love for her, and I dont want a repeat episode of that), I just dont like him. I dont like him in the same fashion that I dont like Comic Book movies such as X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Blankman, Ironman or Thor. Reason being is, Who wants to watch a movie where you know the person youre rooting for cant and wont feasibly lose, where he has more skill and possess powers that his opponent cant match? Who wants to root for that person to win all the time? I wrote this a few months back when Lebron said he wanted to be on the Mount Rushmore of Basketball greats...Lebron possesses the vision of Magic, the body of Karl Malone, the athleticism and scoring ability of Jordan, and the ability to affect the defensive end of the court in the manner of Russell; so the fact that there is even a debate of if he will go down as one of the Top 4 basketball players of All-Time says more about us than it does his basketball abilities. He is the definition of freak and one of a kind. He is a superstar who elected to do it his way, and not try to mimic others (see my beloved Kobe), but unfortunately for him, in todays society where we crucify the living and immortalize the dead (or retired) there will NEVER be another unanimous great athlete. Sorry to Lebron and his fans, we (all of us) simply wont allow it. I even wrote this exactly 3 years ago today (thank you Timehop App)...It is likely that Lebron will finish his career holding every individual record except MAYBE assists (think about the fact that in 15 years he will be the equivalent of Karl Malone in Karl Malones prime). He is going to eclipse Jordan in every category except MAYBE championships. So why doesnt he have the capability of going down as better than MJ? Lebron James. Is. The. Greatest basketball player of all-time! His only curse, even more so than Kobe, is that he arrived in the league A.J., After Jordan. I love rooting against him, but Im not foolish enough to deny his talents.
