One of the questions we all ask is When we buy Blencathra, what happens next? One of the answers has been that we want to work with local groups and charities and this is something which is open to discussion. In the meantime, I just want to take a moment to mention a local charity, Cancercare, established in 1983 to provide free support for cancer patients. They offer a dedicated children and young people service and are 95% funded by donations. They are holding a Santa Dash and Reindeer Run to raise money in Kendal and Lancaster town centres this November. It is a one mile sponsored fun run, those aged over 14 get a free santa suit and little ones get reindeer antlers. All proceeds go to Cancercare. So if you want to run, walk, dance, prance, jog or jingle to help local families affected by cancer, go to cancercare.org.uk and dash for Santa :-)
