One of the reasons Im excited to be visiting and touring the Notre Dame University campus starting today (staying until Tuesday) is rooted in some of my fondest childhood memories. You see, there was this man named Joe Montana who played football for the Fighting Irish. As a kid, he was my football hero. When he began starting for my 49ers (yes, they are mine), our family didnt have a TV, so my brother (Daniel ) and my father (Don Pauling Sr.) and I would listen to the games on the radio. Wed occasionally watch the game at a friends house. The game we watched that stands out most to me was when we watched Joe bring Dan Marino to tears in the Superbowl, as MY Niners beat the Dolphins. We watched that game at Aaron Wests house. Today, Ill set foot for the first time on the university campus where the greatest quarterback in the history of the game used to play. Im excited.
