One of the reasons the Prophet (sal) is usually veiled in Islamic miniatures--in addition to proscriptions meant to legislate against idolatry--is because when his luminous countenance is unveiled it is seen as the light of our own face. He is only a mirror for the believers. To depict him in the past is to miss him in the present, which is also true of the One envisaged as beyond and/or as forms. Blessings and Peace be upon him and his family. -Z. M.-
