One of the saddest days in history: June 22, 1941 - Hitlers - TopicsExpress

One of the saddest days in history: June 22, 1941 - Hitlers Germany invaded Russia (USSR back then). 3.2 million Germans plunged headlong into Russia across an 1800-mile front, taking their foes by surprise. At 7 am that morning, over the radio, a proclamation from the Führer to the German people announced, “At this moment a march is taking place that, for its extent, compares with the greatest the world has ever seen. I have decided again today to place the fate and future of the Reich and our people in the hands of our soldiers. May God aid us, especially in this fight.” By mid-July 1941, all that remained was for the Russians to give up and accept their fate under Hitler, just like Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. But the Russians kept fighting.... The most savage 4 years in human history. historyplace/worldwar2/defeat/attack-russia.htm
