One of the selling point of K13 is scientific thinking. This is what Ive told myself (and later my students) in order to create a safe environment to questioning: 1. Human beings need questioning to turn on their intellectual engine. 2. Every question lingering in your mind is worth questioned, but not all questions can get the answer right away. 3. There is no taboo question if you put it in scientific perspective. 4. There might be more than one correct answers. Different standing point results in different way of thinking and in the end gain different answer. 5. The truth is progressive. What is considered true now may be proven wrong if new evidence found. 6. What we perceive as wrong answer may not be wrong. It is just a matter of lack of information, different standing point, or different presentation. 7. There is always a room for uncertainty, do not always expect a clear-cut answer. Science and technology grow because of human beings keep wondering, doubting, and searching. 9. Being confused is natural, it indicates that your brain is working. It just needs more time to process the data. Keep searching and keep thinking. The biggest problem is: to what extent do teachers think like educated people before asking students to do so?
