One of the things Ive loved about spending Christmas in other countries is that its not terribly evident that its Christmas. Im talking to you, Mother India! Ive spent the last several Christmases here because my mom was sick and we kept thinking, it could be the last one. Well, the last one totally snuck up on us. It was last year. And this is the way it is. We dont know. So my plan is to cherish the day, with the guilt, the over eating, the rage, the tenderness, the surprises, the stories. Hold none of it too tightly. And plot next years getaway country.
