One of the things Ive noticed is the current trend by many to primarily market Slingbows as a survival tool. I fully understand this as it makes a great piece of self reliance/survival gear. The problem I have with this is that key-holing them into this narrow category is unfairly representing the abilities of these unique archery designs. I believe the primary reason for this is that they are, as of yet, not specifically legal to hunt or fish with in every area. The issue that I see with this is the fact that (not all) but most Slingbows like our Jackalope and Lever Bow will equal if not surpass many modern longbows is speed and cast and so should qualify across the board as legal archery tackle for all game and fish harvest with the appropriate band, arrow and point. A modern SLINGBOW is simply another viable archery tool and a unique option to budget minded hunters and shooters everywhere. We really need to pull together and request that state fish and game laws reflect the fact that Slingbows being a hand drawn, arrow launcher has the same inherent accuracy, power and ability as many traditional bows currently being legally used in the field. The main difference is that their source of energy comes from drawn rubber power bands instead of limbs. The similarities are what we need to focus on, not the differences!! Maybe our political slogan should be Slingers are Archers Too!! ;)
