One of the things that I love about having Olivier in afternoon kindergarten, is that I drop him off right as the older kids are coming outside after eating their lunch. Andreas has had a rough transition into grade 2 but seeing him run at me yelling Mama! with a big smile on his face, does my worried mind a world of good. A hug, a kiss and a re-tying of his shoes later, and hes running off again with both of us feeling reassured, while Olivier is marching off into the school with his class happy as a little clam (usually). As you might expect, Mateo is nowhere to be seen because he is way too cool to be seen running for his mom. Which is like, awesome, because it means hes totally growing into being a bigger big kid as he should be. Sometimes I get a wave if I manage to catch a glimpse of him running around with his buddies. I appreciate his confidence and independence so much more, knowing that it doesnt come so easily to every kid, including Andreas.
