One of the things that Mark Mayberry Johnson, and the boys, likes - TopicsExpress

One of the things that Mark Mayberry Johnson, and the boys, likes to do is to go hunting; specifically, for deer. And when Caleb Parson has gone out to hunt, he likes to track the deer. He will walk for hours seeking deer trail and walked on leaves. Meanwhile, the deer is running scared, for his life...inevitably away from a water source. After you ever been hunted by God? I know the question sounds funny; but, it has value and should be answered. Have you ever been hunted by God? Has God called you to do something; from being the janitor for a brick and mortar church to being the shepherd of that same church or from being a pre-school teacher to being the principal of the school where your influence might be greater? I ran. My call came in May of 1989, just a month before my High School graduation. It wasnt a loud audible call; like when I am talking face to face with one of my children. It was a call that came during a time of prayer at youth services one night. I will not lie; it terrified me. How can I be a shepherd? How can I lead people to Christ? I wasnt a great orator; well, neither was Moses. I couldnt perform miracles; well, no one can without the power and authority of Jesus, the Christ. And, so, I ran...I ran for all I was worth. Until March of 2013. It was time to stop running. But, I had denied Jesus in my life for so long; well, Peter denied Jesus and became the rock on which Jesus built His church. Hmmmmmm... Back to the deer... Psalms 42:1-2--As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Caleb has yet to shoot a deer this season; but, once shot, a deer, any animal, human included, will be thirsty. Water is needed to help rebuild a blood supply. Could it be that we, in our spiritual weaknesses, are thirsty after all things that God alone can provide? In this Psalms of David, David is still be hunted by King Saul. He is moving from place to place and is far removed from the Tent of Meeting. He longs to worship and sacrifice and praise in the Tent of Meeting where Gods presence resides. Today, we need only find God as we fall prostrate before Him, wherever that may be; your home office, your work office, your school office, your front yard, your back yard, your bathtub, your bedroom, your kitchen, your work shed, your storage shed...God will meet with you wherever you need Him to meet with you at. Are you thirsty today? Does your soul pant after the living water that is provided only through Jesus? John 7:38-- Whoever believes in Me [Jesus], as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. youtu.be/-gaT4q9eJ1U
