One of the things that is very difficult about working in the birth field is witnessing (doulas and midwives) and hearing about (counselors, coaches and fellow birth pros) the extraordinary amount of abuse that goes on everyday in hospitals around the world. Improving Births mission is to #breakthesilence this year and while this is not an easy task: stating what needs to be said and in some cases, triggering trauma in doing that, it is the duty of all of us to speak out about what we know so that these archaic, and I would add, misogynistic practices end for all women everywhere.
