One of the things thats difficult about writing and drawing books as your profession is that so much of it is done in isolation, that you have to reach out for feedback. Which is great when youre developing professionally as a creator, but harder to do when youve reached a point in your career where you largely know how to do all the things youre doing, and you know what you want to do with it. Its part of why all we pros network, and keep tabs on each other, so that when were grappling with some difficult project, we can reach out to other writers and artists who have dealt with the same issues, and can ask for help. You find the people whose opinions you trust, and lean on them when you need to. But sometimes, its the validation youve done something right that makes your workday fly. A few years ago, it was being told by the Senior Design Team at Industrial Light & Magic that they really liked my art on a project we were working on together. Today, its being told by the story guys at Pixar that I solved a story problem on my book in a really brilliant way. Day officially freaking MADE. :D
