One of the traditional Teochew Confectionery shop left here. In the early 50s among the popular Teochew confectionery shops were Wah Lee, Mui Lee (both at New Market Road / near Ellenborough street market), Thye Moh Chan at Liang Seah Street / Beach Road (later moved to Lorong 25 Geylang and sold to Bread Talk chain). There are a few left and Thye Lee is one of such shop.... I called it the old school style La-piah lard cake. The Tao-sha is smooth, fragrantly nice.. best to down with a cuppa Chinese tea, for me its Ti Kwan Yin
