One of the ways God blesses our circumstances is by using our pressures to prepare us to be more effective in our future ministry calling and assignment. A great example of this is King David. God used negative circumstances to prepare him to be effective in his ministry assignment. God anointed him to be the great warrior king of Israel. And, to be a successful warrior king, David needed to know the geography of Israel. To teach David the geography, the Lord put him in the land while in his twenties. For about seven or eight years David fled hiding from cave to cave, with King Saul’s 3,000 soldiers coming after him (1 Sam. 20-31). In running, escaping from Saul, and finding hiding places, David learned the land. David’s difficult time in his twenties ended up working out together for his good because he learned the land plus many other dynamics in his walk with God. David became the great warrior king, and he learned the land through God training him in the land. I have important news for you! When God wants to teach you about the land, He puts you in the land instead of merely giving you a geography lesson. We would like just to go to a class on victory so that we could teach people about victory. You know, we go to the class, and we learn the lessons and the precepts so we can teach our children, we can teach our friends, and we can encourage people on victory. Mostly we are not going to learn about victory in a classroom; we learn about victory the most effective way, by being in the land: facing our failures, our fears, wrong choices, right choices, and seeing God’s intervention. This is how God trains us to be most effective in the days to come in our future so that we can walk forth in our assignment.
