One of the workshops I attended at ABX was given by the people who founded BrightBuilt Home. I was so impressed with these guys because they have developed a process for providing mass market net zero homes that are modular and affordable. Net Zero means that the building produces as much energy as it consumes, so no utility bills, no fossil fuels, no harm to the environment. The houses cost $150-185/sf and they go up fast because they are modular. BrightBuilt wants to make a real impact on residential home construction with a goal of supplying hundreds of homes a year. The homes are pretty traditional looking, kind of a simple barn vernacular, but they are so well considered from a construction and environmental perspective that I support them all the way. If you cant afford to hire us to design your house go check these guys out!
