One of the worst things we can do to a friend or a family member is to minimize a challenge or a bad situation that they are going through. Although we may not be able to fully understand them, blowing off their problem only adds more problems to it. As a guy, Im usually the fixer. Tell me your problem and Ill have an answer or two. This is not the best way to handle most situations though. A lot of these challenges in peoples lives have to do with guilt, regret and shame. Many times, we make bad choices and then have to live with the fallout of those choices. But heres the good news - we don’t have to live with guilt, regret, or shame anymore. Too many people are stuck with memories from their past that they can’t get over. Either we’ve been hurt and have resentment or we’ve hurt someone else and we have guilt. God doesn’t want us to carry that heavy baggage throughout our life. He wants us to be free. That’s one reason God gave us the Bible. He uses his Word to take away our guilt. God’s Word cleanses the dirt, cleans up our minds, and washes our bodies. It gets all the dirt, the junk, the grime, the grit, the shame, and the sin out of our lives. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word”. Let Him wash us today!
