One of the young men who inspires me so much is Kojo - TopicsExpress

One of the young men who inspires me so much is Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah. I am not a morning show enthusiast. But Kojos depth and understanding of issues coupled with his intelligence got me glued to Joy FM when he was the show host. The other day I decided to take a listen to an interview he granted on Personality Profile a few months to his resignation. Kojo made a very remarkable statement that I thought its worth hearing, especially for the youth. He said, Many of us complain about the inefficiency of our leaders. Yet, the youth, who are the future leaders, develop no capacity to make themselves capable of changing the fortunes of this country. For many of us, we might not be able to perform; not to talk of being inefficient. This statement by Kojo ties in closely to a conversation I was having with my very good friend, Nii, about two weeks ago regarding our lack of building capacity before venturing out. It looks like most of us are in such a hurry to show the world what we are made of, yet have no substance to prove our worth. We are in a competition to show others that we too we dey. But thats far from it. In order for you to launch out and make an impact, it goes beyond just showing up. You have to take some time to develop capacity so as to bring value to the table. Its so sad these days that youths occupy themselves with the non-essentials of life. They would rather go for a party than make some time to study a new course. I am not saying entertainment is bad. In fact, it gives you the edge to perform. However, entertainment at the expense of investing in ourselves to grow capacity is a detriment to the growth of our country and continent. If you have no capacity whatsoever, you may show up...yes! But it wont take long and you will disappear into thin air. Developing capacity means acquiring as much knowledge as you need for the journey ahead. I have recently been reading very voraciously on marketing. I have nothing doing with marketing. But I need it to achieve what I am about. Lets develop capacity. Its only by that, that we can touch the world. The world is tired of hearing from shallow people without substance. The question is: WHAT DIFFERENCE ARE YOU BRINGING TO THE TABLE?
