One of those bizarre, quirky, weird coincidences that our Kangaroo history is known for... Kangaroo family member, Robert Latham just made me aware of an old Bell TV ad from the 1990s that is a bit of a viral internet sensation this time of year. Bob messaged me tonight and asked if I had ever seen the commerical and if one of the soldiers in a photo that appears is wearing a Kangaroo Cap badge. Not only is the soldier in the photograph (right side) a Kangaroo, but the guy in the commercial IS a kangaroo. The actor/real veteran/lawyer is none other than the late Lieut. John Campbell (d.2011). Not that it matters for the purpose of the commercial, but for accuracy, while Lieut. Campbell did serve well and honourably in Northwest Europe, he was not a combatant at Dieppe, I cannot speak for the other man pictured in the photo with John. The video was made before my personal acquaintence with the kangaroo Association so was not aware of this and never heard this ever spoken of in our meetings. Im going to contact Johns son and see if we can learn more about the making of the video which looks like it was filmed in Johns home, I do not know if the grandson in the video is Johns actual grandson. So many questions!? -Bill Miller Jr (WJM) (The posting of this video link is for purposes of commentary and should not be construed as an endorsement of Bell) youtu.be/Dd1FNPx_YN4
