One of three petroglyph sites on Stansbury island on the great - TopicsExpress

One of three petroglyph sites on Stansbury island on the great salt lake I know of. This hillside is covered with hundreds of pictures. This one stands out to me. I dont like to make up meanings for rock art, but this has unmistakable similarities to the Dinwoody glyphs mostly confined to Yellowstone and Wind river. This is the furthest west I have seen these monsters. Dinwoody style is one of the few rock art styles that was documented to the historic Shoshone. It was a religion of monsters that could bring harm or prosperity. The Salt Lake area in the mid 1800s was the domain of the northern and eastern Shoshone and probably for thousands of years before that according to dry cave data. These look to be made more recently than others on this hillside.
