One-one thousand. Two-one thousand. Three-one thousand. Someone has died. Every three seconds, someone in the world dies as a result of extreme poverty; that may be from hunger, or lack of clean water, or an easily preventable disease. Or dying in a factor that makes cheap clothing. Or freezing to death because of a lack of proper housing. There are many ways that poverty can cause death. Sobering to think of. Count the numbers up above, and stop to realize someone else has died. So what is the Christian community going to do about it? Because the Bible says we have to be active in helping the desperately poor. We dont get an out on this, we dont get a pass. We cant turn a blind eye to it and not expect to be called on it by God. We must do something. People are dying. Around the world, and in our communities. One-one thousand. Two-one thousand. Three-one thousand. Someone has died.
