One particularly famous way to cook white tuna in Java island is to boil it in salted water. You continue to boil it until all the water and the salt are absorbed. The salted fish is called Pindang (pronounced: peen-dang) can then be added into stir fry, soup, or fried and eaten with rice. This kind of cooked fish is famously associated with cats the way milk is associated with kittens/cats in western world. Ask anyone what to feed a cat with, they will tell you Pindang. Not Friskies or Whiskas. Wait a moment, do you know that almost all (if not all) fish in Indonesia is contaminated with mercury or lead? Last year, I brought Sage (then 4 weeks old) and his siblings home to The Whiskers Syndicate, from a gawker selling this Pindang in traditional market. Their mother lives under the gawkers stall and eat the by products of the salted fish, namely the intestine, the head, and fins. But instead of giving Sage the immunity from salted fish, he develop severe allergies to fish. Teeny amount of fish in the cat food, and he will scratch himself apart for days; and his scratching so bad I had to put a scarf on him because he has grisly scratch ulcers on his neck (cant put on a collar there right?). He is also allergic to grain, because people mix the Pindang into rice and give it to the cats. A normal layman will just bring Sage to the vet, he is given antibiotics and corticosteroid, and the cycle will repeat with higher and higher dose of medicine until his liver exploded and when that happens, people will just say Oh well... I am not normal. I pay attention, I look for the cause, but even when I find out about his allergies, I wouldnt have been able to do anything if I dont have you. Your gift enables me to buy a good cat food for Sage, and help him stop scratching. Your contribution buys him grain free food, immune booster, and proper medication to existing wounds. Your donation help him heals. Your donation does the magic. Sage, is well today and off his scarf (he doesnt like it though he looks gorgeous with it) So here is my gratitude for you. Thank you for your support all the way through; especially @Lunaberry31 who send us a generous donation today. Thank you for keeping us in your mind, thank you for sending hope so that Sage can have a better, scratch free life. ~ Josie
