One political comment. I cant help it. I am hearing a lot of people like me, who have low incomes and/or preexisting conditions, commenting on getting insurance or going to the doc for the first time in forever etc. But, occasionally, I am hearing how unfair it is that now, to get insurance, its so much a month, and a fairly high deductible. And Im also hearing cracks about this being income redistribution. Well doh! Heres the thing. This whole insurance trip is based on Your Income. So if you make a lot of money, you have to pay A Certain Percentage of Your Income on the insurance that we all have to buy. I have to pay The Same Percentage of My Income. When I hear the whiny nonsense from someone whose MAGI (MAGI for Petes sake!) is too high to get a subsidy, I wish I could express my *facepalming* disgust. Look. Maybe I am paying less for insurance...which I havent been able to afford since the turn of the century...and NOW, I am getting insurance, and seeing a doctor, and paying my co-pay etc etc etc. I STILL CANT AFFORD TO BUY SNEAKERS! Do you folks with good jobs and real incomes not understand that there are millions of us literally scraping by? I would love to drive a vehicle with less than 275,000 miles on it. Or be able to afford a mortgage to replace this tin can. You seriously resent that I am getting a subsidy that lets me buy insurance? I GROW YOUR FOOD. The millions like me who are self-employed or farm-employed...no, we arent paying as many dollars a month for the same policy you get...but we are all paying the Same Percentage of OUR INCOME. So when you tell me that your insurance is going to be X-hundred a month, oh please, dont make me cry. I would trade your income for my subsidized insurance in a freekin heartbeat.
