One solitary life Scripture We want to tell you about the Word that gives life—the one who existed before the world began. - 1 John 1:1 (ERV) Meditation Of all that has ever been said about Jesus Christ, perhaps none are more enduring than these—from American Episcopalian minister Phillips Brooks (1835-93): “He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years he was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house…He never did one of the things that usually accompanies greatness.” Brooks concludes: “Centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race, and the leader of the column of progress. I am far within my mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on Earth as has that one solitary life.” Jesus Christ, the Word that gives life, is your personal Lord. Praise Him anew for who He was and who He is to you this day. Don’t hesitate to share Him with others. Prayer God, I worship You, and ask You to help me tell others about You, and how Your Word has changed my life and helped me know You more. Amen.
