One the eve of the first anniversary of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) - TopicsExpress

One the eve of the first anniversary of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) when tens of thousands of victims died and millions were displaced and severely affected across Central Philippines, human rights activists in Metro Manila held a rally today on Mendiola Bridge. Aside from expressing solidarity with the victims they also condemned the Aquino governments criminal neglect of the affected areas and the victims. The protesters belied claims by Aquino government officials that no victim remains in tents and temporary shelters a year after the typhoon wreaked havoc across 18 provinces. They said the Aquino government did too little too late for millions of victims despite the assistance provided by the international community. The event is part of the nationally-coordinated condemnation rally, also held in Basey (Samar), Tacloban City, Estancia (Iloilo), Iloilo City, Roxas City, and Kalibo (Aklan). (Photos by Karapatan)
