One thing I hate about this city is the support for writers. This is a cool place for music and visual art, but the ONE writers group I found isnt really of much use to me. Everyone gets together to bounce ideas off of each other, give advice, help each other out, which is fantastic, and there happens to be some skilled writers in it, Im not knocking them at all... But it isnt really a good fit for me. - Im writing a story about a boy and his dog, and the life lesson brought on about growing up and leaving things behind. - well that sounds interesting, and blah blah blah - Im writing about a divorced woman who through the support of her friends learns to love life and trust people again. - well that sounds interesting, and blah blah blah - Im writing about a young man from 1923 England, who comes to the prairies to find his fortune and a wife. - well that sounds interesting, and blah blah blah Me - Im writing about a town infested with thousands of Jesus Christs who just basically follow the town folk around and judge them. (Silence from the group, almost like they expect me to say that I am kidding and really writing about a grandfather and grandson bonding over a love of trains after the death of the father.) - Im writing about a young woman who wants to be in a band. - well that sounds interesting, and blah blah blah (I get up and walk away quietly)
