One thing Ill be doing for the upcoming new year is a little facebook cleaning! That means removing all the people who are false friends! The ones who pretend to like you but in reality couldnt care less about you! Im now beginning my 8th year at work and over the years, Ive seen all types of people. There are the ones who pretend to like you, yet would not even give you the time of day if they saw you on the street! Then there are the ones who like to gather information about you from others so they can gossip and spread rumors! In my opinion, thats just an escape mechanism they indulge in to cover up their own pathetic existence! And then there are the ones who dont pay much attention to you and dont show much respect! My personality is somewhat different from some of my coworkers. Ive always been known to have a very customer friendly and outgoing personality and Im quite proud of that! It makes a huge difference in how the customers we fly look at us! Its nothing new to any of my colleagues, that after personally flying a leg from one place to another, Ill always get out of my seat and take a minute or two to give a friendly smile and say thanks and good day to the people who just entrusted me with their lives to get them safely to their destination! Why do I do that? Because its something g I enjoy! It shows people that I take tremendous pride in my work! It also shows them that I truly love what I do and that its not just a job! And it also makes a difference in how our customers perceive us and in their overall customer experience! In other words, it shows that we care! That friendly and caring personality is something that will follow me till the day I retire! No one will ever take that away! As I said once before, in the airline business, its not the routine things we do day in and day out that will make the biggest impression to our traveling passengers. Its going above and beyond! And thats something Im known for doing! Flying the plane is the easy part! I already talked about a pairing a little while back, where an elderly Jamaican lady traveling from Winnipeg to Calgary wanted me to personally walk her up to the top of the bridge to her wheelchair! It was an absolute pleasure to do that for her and we had a good conversation in Winnipeg while my crew and I awaited our aircraft. As I said, some crew members have that outgoing personality, some dont! Heres to the upcoming new year and heres to continuing to go above and beyond...
