One thing that I am interested in is why people with M.E. and similar diseases are so much more affected by toxins than most people are. Paul Cheney has talked frequently about how M.E. patients have lower levels of oxygen in their systems than healthy people (or almost anybody else) - and how if you give them oxygen, they decline. That makes perfect sense to me since if people are being hit with an agent (such as Stachy toxin) that causes a great deal of oxidative stress, a lower level of respiration can be extremely protective. But a decrease in level of oxygen has many negative effects too. For instance, it can change the microbiome, allowing anaerobic microorganisms to be more likely to flourish. Cheney has cited candida, Lyme and c. pneumoniae as examples. One thing that we know for sure is that anaerobic microorganisms in the environment are able to transform inorganic mercury into the much more dangerous methylmercury. And at least this one study suggests that candida can do the same thing. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC182692/ The idea that the microorganisms in patients systems may be transforming the organic mercury in vaccines or dental fillings into methylmercury would seem to make that mercury much more dangerous, and thus something to be avoided scrupulously. If Lipkin et al were going to be studying this sort of phenomenon with regard to the microbiome, rather than just looking at what microorganisms are there, I would be much more inclined to support his work.
