One thousand billion equals one trillion. There are 200 million people in America over the age of 12. The banks were given $29 trillion plus the $5 trillion for the stimulus, that makes $34 trillion. This money is still in the banks along with the money from the fines that they are suppose to have paid and all of the profits from the illegal activities that generated the fines. Not one request has been made by regulators for an accounting of the profits that have been made since deregulation, in connection with shadow banking activity. The banks could be allowed to keep the profits and they would still be able to release enough money to end poverty, homelessness and unemployment in America. All roads and other infrastructure could be repaired and student loans could be forgiven. This money is being withheld by the banks because the 1% who own the banks wish to maintain the status quo, which is one of exploitation.The American people are being lied to by both parties. Grants could be given to each person in the 99% in the amount of $100,000 with $20 trillion. There would be $14 trillion left to solve the rest of the socioeconomic problems that face the country.
