One unexpected side effect from the burn that I never anticipated is what his scars do when he is sick. Right now he is showing signs of hand, foot, and mouth disease (oh joy!), and one of the places that is showing the most irritation is his arm scar. It is SO angry. It is red, swollen, and cracked. It is definitely painful for the little guy. He is once again out of his pressure garments because they are causing additional discomfort to the area. My guess is that because the skin is so new and tender, it just cant quite handle the infections that come. Its unexpected, but has been consistent with every thing hes had lately. Just thought I would share one of the weirder side effects from burns...
