One week of summer left to go, and the Platte Valley’s second tourist rush is just beginning. Antelope season starts Monday across the valley’s hunt areas—50, 51 and 52. With the opening of the season, RV’s, bumper trailers, ATV’s and orange coats and hats are pouring into the region. Saratoga Game Warden Biff Burton said last week’s rains were good for the antelope because it greened up their food sources. The wet weather has created less than ideal conditions for hunters, though. Bigfoot 99 will have the rest of the story, including the most common violations Burton sees during hunting season.
