One will fully agree with me that, the little country The Gambia, has a lot of resources and materials to make it’s Film, Tv and Cinema industry one of the best in The world, but its without doubt that a lot needs to be on the ground, to fully developed a well structured industry. As we can see, a lot of young people have the talent and passion for the industry, but there are limited chances and opportunities available for them to explore their knowledge, talents and skills to the fullest. It can be noted that, we only have a movement of young people with love for the industry,but yet to see a real industry, which is one of the Gambia’s widest dream. We need to have a fully structured organization, of writers, producers, directors, actors,sound technicians, editors, light technicians, location managers,casting agents and professional camera crews. With this plus a copyright law which should be approved by the government, will play a very big role in the development of an industry. Copyrights has been a big issue in the Gambia, a lot of materials and talents just go in vain,just like that. There is no law, which is to protect the rights and materials of artist in the Gambia, which have created an unhealthy piracy in its high numbers. The departments started paying attension to this industry just very recently, therefore, there is along way to go, to finally achieve all the goals. Last but not the least the government should establish a film fund, where by filmmakers can apply to get support or grants from the government ,so as to make quality films and Tv series.
