One year ago, I dropped carbs (mostly) from my diet. I have not been terribly consistent with this because carbohydrates are like a goddamn drug. No, Im not exaggerating, stopping is like quitting smoking. But, overall, I have dropped from eat 6-7 servings of grains diet - about 300 grams per day - to avoid all grains and starches to what is averaging out to be about 50 grams per day. To do this without wrecking your body, you have to increase fat, so Im eating avocados, butter, cheese, heavy cream, etc. Saturated fats, mostly animal fats. I have not been perfect on it, because... frankly because Im spoiled. Sometimes ya just gotta have ice cream, or not scrape the burrito out of the tortilla. Since Im not gluten intolerant, I dont suffer afterwards. I have dropped 40 pounds and 7 inches off my waist. My corset is now too big for me, although I can sorta fake it for now. My triglycerides are fine. My cholesterol is mostly fine (HDL is low). My blood sugar is nearly perfect. My vitamin levels are completely within normal ranges. My *only* bad number is the low HDL. Tell me again how this is a fad diet and its going to kill me and I neeeeeeed carbohydrates because Nutrition?
