One year ago, the average price for gasoline was $3.26 per gallon. The U.S. Department of Energy now predicts that gas prices will average $2.60 for all of 2015. This will save drivers $100 billion next year; a savings of $1,100 a year for the average family. This unexpected savings will permit consumers to spend more on vacations and Christmas gifts; and will provide America’s economy a much needed shot in the arm. In essence, the effect of tumbling oil prices is an expanded national economy, which is a good thing for the American public.
