One year ago today, December 20, 2013, we stood around Marcus and watched as he took his last breath and his heart made its final beat. We said goodbye in so many ways, to him, to his life, and life as we knew it. It has been a year of so many memories. Missing him is so very painful. But this last year, God’s sacrifice became more personal. 2015 years ago, God sent his son to come and live among man, to be tempted just like we are, and yet lived a life without sin. How could God send him, knowing that one day, he would suffer a horrific death on that rough cross? Because God loved us. And though his love, we can now be redeemed and forgiven. We can live lives that bring Him glory through His grace. Because of Jesus’ powerful redemptive work, we can look forward to being with him for eternity. And because of Jesus, we look forward to seeing and being with Marcus again for all eternity! We recognize that because of the crime and reckless, thoughtless actions of a few men our cherished dreams and plans have been shattered. But because of God’s forgiveness to us, we, too, choose to forgive them. We pray that they will come to experience the forgiveness Jesus extends. Please continue to pray for us as we all continue to find new normal… Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support throughout this past year!
