One year ago today, I attended the simplest, most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. It wasnt the decorations (nature only), the fancy clothes(street dress and uniforms), or the venue.(A beautiful spot in a city park chosen 5 minutes earlier).My husband stood ready to officiate as we snapped photos ( no photographer either) before we lost sunlight. The moment that took my breath away could not have been arranged by a wedding planner.....it was one truly of Gods design. Between shots the bride, cocking her head to one side, whispered into the grooms ear, and the look of pure heavenly peace and joy on my sons face was more than any elaborate wedding plan I could have ever imagined. I knew in that moment, that God had truly granted my son, Jon and I, both our hearts desire.....a woman that loves my child with unconditional love! It was not the wedding she had planned, but rather than postpone until the military allowed them the time, she chose to do it simply to be with the man she had waited for. Her own parents didnt even get to attend. Out of all the weddings I have witnessed......it truly was magical. Not because of fanfare......just one look, a glance for this doubtful mom to realize this was someone special that her son had chosen, someone who loved him as deeply as she herself loves his father! Thank you God for allowing me to witness that tiny moment in time, and for giving us a daughter in law that unselfishly put away her dream wedding to be with our son! We love you two very much and know you will make incredible parents to our little grand arriving in March. One year brought lots of changes and challenges to your marriage and you have faced them all.....and won together! Enjoy your day.......many more anniversaries to come!
