One year ago today I was driving the Col de Turini in a borrowed Ford Fiesta ST press car with my friend John Ackerman. I had been up partying all night on the massive 311ft Indian Empress for the Force India party at the Monaco Grand Prix and decided to get some fresh air in the mountains...on the famous Monte Carlo stage (it was awesome!) before returning to the parties. Sure I slept in the parking garage (yes in the Fiesta), but my friends from the 24hrs of the Nurburgring (Torben Friehe Yann Leretaille Matthais Hemmerle) were in the parking spots across from me. I also managed to jump on a mechanics pit cart and ride into Monacos pit lane holding a starter motor. After the race, we went out drinking with an F1 team to celebrate and two weeks later they invited me to join them at a club in Montreal. I drank with two of my favorite F1 drivers like it was the end of a club race at Road America and we were drinking Jagermeister at Seibkins. Ford never said no Nurburgring and its an open public road thing so why not? And if youre wondering, the Fiesta ST is probably my favorite car right now. I still want one really really bad even a year later. My friend has one with 270tq to the wheels and its as the British say, Mental. (almost crash lap at the ring https://youtube/watch?v=D4EGZlNmvU4) - The surfer is in central Munich on a river. - The nightclub with the fire girls is called Life and is in Monaco under the track at T8 on the water. Monster Energy hooked me up big time with that night out!!! Thank you! - The beers on the harbor were from Red Bull and they gave me access to their Energy station which is giant, more like massive, 2 story structure floating in the harbor! And I somehow needed a quiet place to write and ended up in the VIP driver lounge space and Webber came and hung out for bit. Then I walked outside and ran into Niki Lauda on the deck. Clarkson also showed up for bit and he told me a story about a bet they used to make on set in the early years. Something I would never want to lose. Seriously. There are pictures. Thank you Red Bull! - The dirt race is called the Lopik500 in the Netherlands which I call the Dirtburgring and is June 6th year. Its how we first saw Monaco when we showed up the first night. Always exit early and take this route when you first drive in.
