One year ago today (after 3,500 miles of the best road trip evaaa), I touched down in Los Angeles with no job, no house, just a car full of my worldly possessions and my eternal traveling companion Gregory Wright. After I dropped him off at the airport, I sat in my car and had a mini meltdown at the thought of being homeless and 1,000s of miles from my beloved friends and family and BY CHOICE. Whats wrong with you?! I asked myself, doubting the buoyant optimism that preceded this venture. But in true Jenna Patience fashion, I pulled it together and had a room in an apartment by the end of the day. Now by the end of a year, I have a home and a garden, new friends to cherish, a soccer team, a family of doula sisters and awesome amazing clients who have blessed me to support them through the birth of their beautiful children, endless stories and boundless love... and I ended out the year heading back into my chosen field refreshed and renewed- further ahead in my career than when I left home and with plans to become a home owner and foster parent in the next new year. I said I wanted adventure, and got plenty of that and so much more. LA is a town only fit for those who deserve it. I saw other FB friends who moved out here relay their tales of woe and encouragement. If you make it through the first year, they said, you WILL make it. Well, despite the many moments I considered returning home with my head hung, I am happy to say I made it and I am happy to call California home. Supremely grateful for all the love and support Ive received on this journey. And you are all welcome to visit anytime :D
