One year ago today, we see Chip working on his birthday at his job as he was in the twilight of a 43-year railroad career. I did not know it when I took this picture, but this would be the last day that I would ever photograph Chip in action; he retired at the end of the month, ending a railroad career that started on the Southern Pacific Railway in 1968!
