One year ago tonight was such a fun night! Sarah, I hope you dont mind my sharing this story. ;) One year ago tonight, our husbands were both out (protecting our streets) and the kids and I ventured over to the Millsap house to reorganize Devs room. Case and Nathan played board games and the girls hung out downstairs and kept an eye out on Dev. Sarah and I went through Devs things, organizing her pictures and hair bows and clothes and after a month or so of talking about it and days and days working toward it......her parents, everyone finally helped move Devin into the loft so her sissy could move upstairs and be close to her and Case.....and give her mom and dad a more quiet nights sleep. Also it allowed a new area for Miss Sonja to be able to take care of Dev and have her own space. We hung photos, strategically placed polka dots on the wall to make a crown above her bed. This took for-ever!!! But I wanted it to be perfect for Dev. Remember Sarah? As we continued to de-clutter and organize we came across pics that brought back many memories for Sarah. Memories of course I had never heard of. Sarah was all smiles talking about her daughter. Lots of fun stories too! Also she found artwork done by Dev herself, artwork also done for Devin.....very sweet. We made such an attempt to get that room dazzled out so it wasnt just a loft anymore, but a space for Devin. Im not going to lie.......sometimes, just sometimes Sarah and I might take advantage of time spent together to gossip, or rant about something, or even lightheartedly complain about our husbands work schedule. Not always, but ya know, it came up. But that night, it was ALL about Devin. I had been coming over a lot to hang out, play, work on the kids rooms, for hours those last few weeks. And that night......one year ago was the last night. It was pretty much all done, ready to be enjoyed. Case and Jovies rooms were good to go too! Except for a short power outage, it was the perfect night. We had Chipotle, the kids got along and we got a lot done and it was ALL ABOUT DEVIN. It just was and until looking back, didnt really realize it. As we were wrapping up, I went downstairs to pick up and noticed Devins hair was a little crazy from her messing with it, so I sat down beside her and placed her hair back into a small, messy bun, and in the process, poked her little eye with my stupid finger. I looked up and saw Sarah looking down at me from the loft and all I could think of was oops. I gave her a big hug goodnight a kissed her on the forehead. Im going to be honest, I would usually just tell Devin bye by rubbing her arm or giving her a little shout out.......but Im so glad her hair was down. So later as I returned home and I got a text from Sarah......and Im thinking what could you possibly want? She texted me to ask about a shelf that I forgot to hang and had a question about her sweater or something like that...who knows. It was then that we both realized it was daylight savings time and we were WAY past our bedtime. I think Sarah texted....Craaaap! Or something like that........but my point is is that she had to text me one last time because she wanted things to be just so and ready for her daughter. Also, I want to add....that since it was so late, I offered to carry Devin upstairs so that she or Chris wouldnt have to, and Sarah was kindly like, No, Chris will do it, thats his thing.......he likes to put Devi to bed, thats his thing..... And Im very glad he did. I honestly dont have the true, un muddled right words to say, but if I may, I feel very blessed to be able to have been there with the Millsaps that night. I truly feel grateful to have known her. Sarah, I love you and I am blessed to be a part of your life. Chris, Im thinking about you and praying for you as well...... 💗 to the Millsap family
