One year go today, I survived the powerful hurricane Sandy that ravaged some New York boroughs, i.e., Queens and Brooklyn. I remember being in my place on the first floor at 560 65th Street, Far Rockaway, Queens, NY, at about 8pm, when suddenly the lights went out as it had deliberately shut off by the local utility, i.e., LIPA-long island power authority, so the residents of Rockaway peninsula would not get eletrocuted. At that time, I was laying down on my couch when unexpectedly the flood water started infiltrating into the house I was living in. I managed to savage whatever I could, knocked on my neighbors door, and rushed to the second foor. The next day the whole floor of the house, i.e., first floor, that I had lived on for some time had been totally gutted by hurricane Sandy. I had lost everything except for my laptop and my debit cards. Nevertheless, I was thankful to God, for I still had my life and integrity unchanged. My heart goes out to all the hurricane Sandys victims across the states and provinces that were either directly or indirectly affected by the powerful storm in North America. Carpe diem!
