Only Recognised Vice Principals ‘II Be Made Exam Officers, Says Muoboghare THE Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare has directed that, henceforth, only recognised Vice-Principals in public secondary schools are appointed as Examination Officers. Prof. Muoboghare gave the directive recently at Utagba-Ogbe during an interactive session with principals of public secondary schools in the State. He said that the appointment of such senior officers would help in check-mating the incidence of examination malpractice as noticed in some schools where junior officers were assigned such responsibilities. The Commissioner informed the School Heads that the ministry will embark on the training of teachers during the long vacation on computer appreciation and so, advised them to key into the Information Technology Communication (ICT) concept. Prof. Muoboghare stated after the series of workshops on computer training, that future promotion of teachers to the next grade level would be based on computer literacy. He said that the ministry was on the verge of providing most schools with computer sets and accessories and appealed to school Heads that have the items presently, to ensure that their students have access to the computer rooms to practice with the items as that was the only way they would acquire the necessary skills in computer appreciation. The Commissioner told the Principals that as from the next academic session beginning in September 2015, all public secondary schools in the State would have school Based Management Committee (SBMC) made up of 17 members comprising traditional rulers or their representatives, old students, youth leaders, faith based organisations, artisans, non-governmental organisation, amongst others. He also admonished the Principals of the six technical colleges in the State to sit up and put into proper use the funds given to each school by the World Bank/SEEFOR warning that the ministry would not hesitate to remove any of them found wanting. Responding on behalf of her colleagues, the President of the State Branch of All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mrs. Otejiro Oru thanked the commissioner for his constant interaction with them and assured him of their full cooperation
