Only a couple of days before FULCRUM opens at the Fleck Dance Theatre. The dancers are ready, are you?!! : ) Here is a little background information on one of the choreographers whose work will be featured in the program; Internationally accomplished dance artist Colin Connor returns with his galvanizing all-guy quartet, August (2013) and his company classic, ARENA (2009). Connor says of his latest work, “Spirits of eternal summer, as they take leave - the last summer of the boys, before necessity makes them men. Memories of the days when time stops, hangs in the sky, opens up as if it would last forever. Young men in those last days of summer, they weave around each other less four young men than the summer’s air taking its farewell”. Both works are set to compositions by legendary American composer Robert Moran. In July CCDT will showcase ARENA at the Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasgow, Scotland. Connor’s work includes over sixty commissions, from creations for Richmond Ballet and the Juilliard School, to a full-evening Contemporary/Flamenco collaboration in Europe with over 100 performances. He has had works presented at The Holland Festival and the Joyce Theater in New York.
